KP has been a long-time activist and is currently involved with educational programs for girls and young women in underprivileged areas.Prior to this, she has taught life skills classes to homeless shelter residents in Los Angeles and high-risk teens in Wisconsin. KP worked on disaster relief operations such as those in New Orleans’ 9th Ward Musicians Village after Hurricane Katrina and New York’s Ground Zero after the terrorist attacks on 9/11.Her best-selling book, Unbreakable Spirit, features her inspiring story about the courage of the NYFD during the relief effort at Ground Zero. It was published in 2011.
